Now that you have saved a file, you can open it again (assuming it isn't already open, that is, you have closed it).

Opening means that the program takes the file off of the hard disk and puts it into RAM, and displays it for you to work on.

Click File > Open to open an existing document.

  Click on the image for page view.

Or click the Open icon on the toolbar. (In this case, Wordpad is being shown, but many applications have a similar toolbar and Open icon).

The Open dialog box appears.

If you don't see the document you want, choose the folder into which you saved your document previously.

If you still do not see your document, you may have to select a different file type as shown. In this case All documents (all files) is being selected, so that all files in the folder will be displayed, regardless of their type.

Once the document you wish to open is displayed, you can select it by clicking on it with the mouse.

Click Open (or double-click on the document in the previous screen).

The document is loaded into the application (program) you are using.
