Here Windows Explorer has been opened to the folder shown in the last tutorial.

Right-click on a folder. A popup menu shows.

You can delete the selected file by choosing Delete.

The file is deleted.

However, you can still recover the files. Scroll the left pane to the bottom.

Select the Recycle bin (click on it once).

The deleted file is showing in the Recycle bin .

You can permanently delete everything in the Recycle bin by clicking on button 1. Button 2 will restore (undelete) everything in the Recycle bin.

You can also restore or remove one item at a time. Right-clicking on the first file shows a popup menu. Click Restore to undelete the file.

We've used the scrollbar (1) to scroll back to the top of the folder tree in the left pane. Then, we've clicked on the Short memos folder to select it (2). We can see that the deleted file has been restored (3 ).

You can copy or move a file to another folder. To do this:

  1. Click on the file in the right pane with the right mouse button and hold the mouse button down.
  2. Move the mouse cursor to the new folder (left pane) and then release the right mouse button.

A popup appears as shown (in the left pane).

Here the menu item Copy has been chosen, and the file has been copied to the new location (the My Notes folder).

If we had chosen Move, the file would have been copied and the original would have been deleted.

You can also move folders in the same way: right-click and drag .

You can even open a second Explorer window and drag a file or folder from one window to the other.
