Once you have Notepad opened, you can enter text by typing on your computer's keyboard.

Notepad displays each paragraph of a document on one line. You must scroll the window from left to right to read the full document. To avoid this, you can use the word wrap feature in Notepad

Click Format on the menu.

You can search for words or letters. To do this, click Edit on the menu.

You can select and copy text from one location to another in Notepad. To cut some text and then copy it to another location, first select the text (by holding the left mouse button down and dragging it over the text) and then click Edit.

On the Edit menu, select Cut.

The text is cut from the document and copied to an area in the computer's memory called the Clipboard .

Now go to the new location where you want the cut text to be copied to ("pasted"). Click Edit > Paste.

To copy text to the Clipboard without deleting it, select the text and click Edit > Copy.

You can change the font, font size and font style used to display your document in Notepad.
