Screenbook(tm) Tutorials

These tutorials are created with a program called "Screenbook Maker". The tutorials all have a common format called the Screenbook format. Computer tasks are explained via short text descriptions and graphic "snapshots" of the full computer screen - "screenshots".

The screenshots are of screens at different resolutions, but all are displayed with a height of 640 and width of 480 pixels. If you are using Internet Explorer, you can click on "style" in the menubar at the top of the tutorial page, and change the image size. It is recommended that you make the image as large as will fit on your monitor.

If you are using Firefox or another browser, images which were originally larger than 640 x 480 will appear somewhat unclear, because of resizing. Internet Explorer contains a component that can resize screen images without causing a lack of clarity, but this feature doesn't exist yet in other browsers. However, in browser other than Internet Explorer, you'll notice a link under each image that you can click to see the image full sized.

Other items on the tutorial menubar include buttons for moving to the next or previous page, and

  • search : quick full text search of all of the tutorials in this "bookshelf". A bookshelf is a set of screenbooks.
  • square icon : view this page without frames
  • bookshelf : table of contents for the bookshelf (in a frame)
  • titles : menu of page titles for the screenbook
  • all : all pages of the current tutorial combined on to one page
  • thumbnails : thumbnail images with page titles
