In the last tutorial, we removed all the content we didn't want, but now the home page is empty.

For our first version of the home page, we're going to add a list of items with Intro Text. In later tutorials we'll see how to make a more interesting home page, but this will do for the first version.
Here's the Control Panel. We'll click on Content Items Manager.

Looking at our Home page, we see that the intro text for each content item now appears.
However, the text author and modified date also appear. Let's remove those.

The way that items are displayed when you click on a menu item is dependent on settings for that menu item. This means that we need to change settings for the "Home" item in Main Menu.
We'll click on the Menu Manager. (You can also reach the Menu Manager by using the pulldown menu as shown in previous tutorials).

Here is the Menu Manager for the mainmenu. We'll select the Home entry.

The Home menu item isn't pointing to a content item like the other menu items that we made. Instead it is pointing to something called the FrontPage Component. So the configuration page is titled Edit Menu Item :: Component [FrontPage].
On the right is a list of parameters.

Scrolling down, we see that:
- By default the number of Leading items is 1. A leading item comes first and takes up the entire width of the content area.
- By default the number of Intro items (Intro Text) to be displayed is 2.
- By default the number of columns is 2. This refers to the number of columns on the page underneath the leading items.

We've just changed the number of Leading items to 0, the Intro number to 2, and the number of Columns to 1.

Scrolling down, we change the parameters to hide the author name and modified date.
(Use Global means to get this parameter from a list of parameters to be used overall for the site. This overall list is called the Global settings. We'll look at this in a later tutorial).

Returning to our site, we see that the Home page content area now has a list of with titles and intro text for each of our content items.
This is a fairly simple home page design, but it will do for now. In a later tutorial, we'll spice up the design a bit.
