Here we at the Joomla Extensions Directory again. We

1. searched for "Joomap"
2. found a listing for "Joomap"
3. will download the component.

This component will automatically build a sitemap for us. We don't have a lot of pages yet, but as we add content, the sitemap is a nice feature to have. A sitemap ensures that users - and search engines - can easily reach any page on your site.

We'll download the Joomap package.

The most recent release at the time of this writing is 2.05. You should choose whatever release is most recent.

Finally we reach the page with the component package.

We're going to save this package to our computer (that is, download it).

In the Joomla! Administrator, we'll choose Installers - Components.

1. Browse to the file you just downloaded and
2. Click on Upload File & Install.

The Upload component - Success screen appears.

We'll click on Continue.

The Joomap component now appears in the Components pulldown.

We don't need to configure the Joomap in order to start using it. Instead, we can go ahead and make a menu link to the Joomap component.

Here is the Menu Manager for the main menu. (Menu - main menu). We will click on New.

1. We'll select Component,
2. and then Next.

1. Enter a name for the Menu Item.
2. Choose the Joomap Component
3. Click Save.

The Site Map item appears in the list of menu items.

A menu item "Site Map" appears in the menu on the site.

The site map appears when we click on "Site Map".

Uh-oh.. We've got some content showing on the site map that we don't want. For example "Joomla! Home" is left over from the default install.

Why is this happening? This is because JooMap works by traversing all of the menus of the site and making links for published items.

The mainmenu is no problem. However, in the menu pulldown, there is another menu called "other menu".

The "othermenu" is not displayed on our site, but Joomap doesn't know that. All it knows is that the items that "othermenu" points to are published. We'll unpublish them (click on the publish icon).

Now, returning to the site, we see that the unwanted items have disappeared.

This component didn't pick up an OpenSEF URL. Let's add one. In the OpenSEF New Friendly URL screen, we'll

1. Specify a "friendly" URL (see the previous OpenSEF tutorial if you don't understand this)
2. Paste the URL for the Joomap component
3. Save our new mapping.
