In the first tutorial in this series, we created a new document and saved it to the hard disk. Now that the document is saved to the hard disk, there are a number of ways to open it.

One way to open it is from MS Word. Here we have started MS Word again after closing it in the previous tutorial.

Click on the Open icon.

The Open dialog appears. By default it opens to the My Documents folder, which is where we saved our previous document. Double-click on the document name to open it.

The document is opened.

Let's open the document a different way. Close MS Word by clicking on the "x" button.

Right-click on the Start button.

Select Explore.

Windows Explorer opens.

Click on the Address pulldown.

Select My Documents from the Address pulldown.

The My Documents folder is now shown in Windows Explorer. The contents of the folder appear in the right pane.

Double-click on the Hello World document icon.

The Hello World document opens.

We'll look at one more way to open a document in MS Word. Close MS Word. Click on the Start button, and then select Documents . Recent documents are listed here.

By selecting the Hello World item, the document is once again opened in MS Word.
