Word 2000 : Basics    Open a Document from Email

When you receive an MS Word document in an email attachment, you can open this document in MS Word. Here the Outlook Express email program has been opened. (Your email program may look different, but the process of opening a Word document will be similar).

  Click on the image for page view.

Double-click on the message which has an attached document.

The message opens. Double-click on the document name.

The document opens in MS Word.

Note that the document no longer has its original name. It is now called "breif(1)". This is because the document has been copied to your email folder and renamed.

You'll probably want to save the document to your My Documents folder rather than leaving it in the email folder. Click on File - Save As .

Change the name of the document back to the original name.

Click on the Save button.

The document now has its original name and is saved in the My Documents folder.
